Introduction

LIVE LIFE TO THE FULL - you only have one!

Capture.PNG

Hi, My name is Margaret.  I retired a few years ago and initially, I felt totally at sea.  There was no longer any structure to my life.  I even started looking around for a part-time job but nothing really appealed to me. My husband was still working and so we couldn't do things together.

I have sisters and so each week, would visit them and we would go out to places together.  In time, my husband also retired and we joined the local gym for once a week "Silver Circuits" and that was great:  we made new friends there.

One day, whilst out for our daily walk, we noticed a local pub open mid morning.  Venturing in, we saw about 50 people (mainly retirees) drinking coffee and eating cake, so we asked if we could join them. It was a nice surprise to find that a quiz was then about to start.  Since then, (4 years ago) we now attend this coffee and quiz morning most weeks. We told our friends about it and they join us too. The organisers also arrange a coach trip to the seaside once a year and also a Christmas Dinner out at a local venue – great fun.

I think that it's so important to maintain a social life and listed on the following pages are ideas to do just that.  I hope that you find something of interest.

Thanks Margaret. I'm a bit less than a year away from retirement and enjoyed reading your blog. Nice to hear ways to stay engaged.

Nice blog, it is a joyful thing to be retired 😀

What a Great idea to do a blog!  Would you please tell me how you went about learning how to do it?  Thanks.🥰  By the way, your blog looks really nice & you are providing some good information!

Margaret Chambers -

Thanks Carol. I just Googled “how to set up your own website” and went from there. I used the Wix.com website to set it up and someone helped me initially with getting different pages with links to work. I’m told that Wordpress is also a good platform.

I’m sure that there’s a lot I still don’t know but it’s a hobby in itself to learn about it. I’ve always liked things to do with computers anyway.

Good luck if you write one and I’d love to hear if you do x
