Thinking of the social aspect of retirement, it’s important to lead a varied lifestyle and meeting up with friends is very good for our health.

There are various social groups which I’m sure you can find local to where you live such as coffee and chat mornings, Meet-up groups, which are in various towns around the UK and are not just places to meet people of the opposite sex, although of course that is always a possibility.
U3A (University of the third age) offers numerous local groups where you are sure to find something that interests you.
WALKING GROUPS have become very popular and are another way to socialise whilst keeping fit at the same time. Many of these can be found at U3A but to find your local group, it’s best to search on Google.
Then there are EVENING CLASSES which can be very stimulating if you have a particular interest. Over the years I have tried macramé, calligraphy, dressmaking, pottery and computer related stuff. As well as learning new skills, these classes are a great way to meet and make new friends.
NATIONAL WOMEN'S REGISTER (NWR) is a social organisation for women. It has groups across the UK that connect women who are interested in everything and talk about anything! Join in for lively discussions, to share ideas, meet other women and make new friends.
JOIN A LOCAL READING GROUP. U3A tend to have these but again, Google locally to find one to suit you.
PUB QUIZZES are good fun, especially when you take part each week and build up a good rapport with the others there
If you enjoy doing an activity with others, which isn't mentioned here, why not make contact and let me know all about it. I'd love to hear from you.
