EARNING EXTRA CASH

Updated: Nov 26, 2020

If, like me, you're interested in new ways of bringing in some extra cash, below I'll run through a few methods that I've found useful, and I hope that you will too.

There are various ways to earn extra money. For many years now, I have successfully bought and sold items on eBay and through various Facebook selling groups. If you can sell something that is digital, so much the better as obviously there are no postage charges then. Otherwise you may wish to sell items locally and have people collect from you. With both eBay and Facebook, you need to sign up for an account. The good thing about eBay is that people are covered under their money back guarantee when:

· They don’t receive an item

· They receive an item that doesn’t match the listing

· They receive an item that’s broken or faulty

Paypal is a safe and efficient way to pay and get paid on eBay. In most categories, you’re required to accept Paypal, credit card, or debit card payments although for local pick-up, you can be paid cash. PayPal offers buyer and seller protection and so is a great way to do business.

If and when an item sells via eBay, you have to pay a flat 10% of the final sale price, including postage and you’ll pay extra if your buyer pays via PayPal, (an extra 3.4% or 3.9% if it is an international transaction) so be sure to factor this in. This applies to every item, including those listed for free. The final value fee is capped at £250, ie, you pay 10% on items up to the value of £2,500.

Selling on local Facebook groups, ie Marketplace, is completely free but sometimes you may find that you can be let down by people not collecting when they’ve said they would because generally, payment is made upon collection.

Gumtree is another site to buy and sell items www.gumtree.com

VIEWBER

If you can spare a few hours a week, this is a good company to work for as working is very flexible.

The company provides Estate Agents (or indeed anyone who has a property or properties) to sell or rent, with "Viewbers" who can go out and show potential buyers the property of their choice. You get paid by the hour and also petrol expenses. You can state in the Application Form, how far you're prepared to travel. As far as Estate Agents are concerned, it saves them from having to take people out of the office to show people around a property, so it's probably more cost effective.

I became a "Viewber" for a short while, which was fine until I went out to a somewhat dilapidated auction property to meet a potential buyer. The only entrance was via the unkempt back garden and I felt a little unsafe, being a woman on my own. However, you don't have to accept every booking you're offered. I believe that there are plenty of women who do this, without any problem but I tend to think of the possible dangers.

I believe Viewber cover the whole of the UK.
